As the co-founder of a homeschool program, Jeannie has helped hundreds of families design homeschool programs that meet their families’ needs. As a mom, she understands, first hand, the apprehension that many families feel when they decide to homeschool.
Jeannie is a member of CCIS (California Consortium for Independent Study), CHN (California Homeschool Network) and HSLDA (Homeschool Legal Defense Association).
In 1993 Jeannie received a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business from San Jose State University. After graduation, an incredible opportunity presented itself to move to Japan for two years and teach in a pre-K through adult English as Second Language (ESL) program. Jeannie discovered she had a passion for teaching.
Upon returning to the United States in 1995, Jeannie pursued a teaching certificate in the State of California where she taught kindergarten, second and fourth grades. She loved working with children with many different learning styles and needs.
In 2001, Jeannie started her own family and realized she wanted to teach them at home, where she thought they would receive a more personalized education. Both of her children progressed at their own paces and she realized how rewarding it was to watch them enjoy the whole process of learning.
In 2006, Jeannie returned to school to earn a Master’s Degree in Education, which was awarded in 2008. Her thesis topic was homeschooling and she found a passion for alternative education. Fortunately, Jeannie stumbled on a homeschool program in California that was looking for a teacher. Many years later, Jeannie became the director of that program and has helped hundreds of families navigate their homeschool journey. In 2012, Jeannie fulfilled her dream and started Community SchoolHouse, an alternative homeschool program that offers a safe and social learning environment for homeschoolers that engages students through learning, service, and humanitarian studies that teach an ethic of kindness for all human beings.
